Today HAB started the process of moving the application barge and equipment from Augusta Lake to Sunfish Lake. We will complete this process tomorrow and the buffered alum application will occur on Friday at Sunfish Lake. We also spent time today conducting our daily chemical and environmental testing of Augusta Lake. Alum is widely used in lakes and the drinking/wastewater treatment industry due to it’s known safety. In fact, an important consideration in selecting an alum application as the preferred restoration technique for Augusta Lake and Sunfish Lake was it’s long record of safe use. The use of alum is well-suited for lakes such as Augusta and Sunfish and HAB carefully monitors and documents the safe lake conditions during all of their application projects. Feel free to stop by and observe the application at Sunfish on Friday!
